Alexis turned 8 months old yesterday. Boy, does time fly! There are a few things that happened over the last month that I don't want to forget:
- Alexis doesn't crawl yet, but she scoots backwards really well. She just scoots backwards until she hits a wall, the bed, etc and can't go anymore or she scoots backwards in a circle to change directions. It's quite cute and funny.
- At around 7 1/2 months Alexis started to babble, a lot. Her first syllable was "da," followed soon after by "ba" and "ma." She has two volumes - loud, and louder. Instead of babbling "ma, ma, ma, ma" she can now say "ma-ma." John is convinced that she knows what it means. When Alexis is with John and she wants me, she keeps saying/crying "ma-ma" to him until I take her and then she stops. I'm not totally convinced. But regardless, we do have a very clever daughter.
- Last week at swimming lessons, Alexis went all the way under water for the first time. It's too bad John wasn't there, because she was a natural. She never sputtered and came up smiling. They teach us to say "1, 2, 3, under" and then put them under the water. Even on her first go, Alexis closed her eyes and seemed to hold her breath. She loved it so much that even when I wasn't going to put her under and was just bouncing her in the water, she kept closing her eyes like she was ready. When I took her out of the water she started crying. That night, John kept telling her how proud he was of her. He's already talking about buying her her first mask and snorkel.
