Rolling Over

Alexis rolled over for the first time today (back to stomach), just one day shy of being four months old. She's been trying so hard to roll over all week, but when she finally did, she didn't quite know what to do. Her arm was stuck under her stomach, but she quickly figured out how to wiggle it out and then push her chest up. She likes to think that she's already a big girl.

I didn't have my camera ready because she's been rolling on her side for awhile, so when she rolled all the way over I quickly grabbed it, so we only have pictures of her after the big moment.  Hopefully we'll get it on the video camera soon.

Alexis rolled over on her changing table at my mom's house. Isn't it cute? It's just the counter in the laundry room, but my mom decorated the wall and even put sparkly pictures of butterflies on the bottom of the cabinets, so Alexis would have something to look at. Alexis is such a lucky girl.

New look

Well, I chopped my hair off and I thought you all might want a look.

It's not really crooked in the back; I'm just not sitting up straight.

We made it!

Well, we finally made it to Seattle!  I won't go into all of the details, but our original Brisbane-L.A. flight was canceled, so we had to fly out of Sydney instead.  After a 6 hour layover in Sydney and another 6 hour layover in L.A., we finally got to Seattle 12 hours late, turning our 24 hour trip into a 36 hour trip.  But, Alexis was wonderful.  She barely fussed at all.  In fact, at the end of the Sydney-L.A. flight when we were putting her in the baby carrier, she was fussing a little and the flight attendant walked by and said "so she does make noise after all!".  We feel so blessed to have a generally happy and content baby.

Alexis was already asleep when we boarded the L.A. flight.  It was a long day and not even half over!

Water Baby

We took Alexis swimming today for the first time. We were a little worried because the first time we tried to bathe Alexis in a full-size bath tub, she screamed and screamed, even though she loves her baths in the sink. But we worried for nothing. Alexis loved going swimming!

Notice the look she is giving John. Alexis sure loves her daddy.

Look at those legs! Whoo hoo!

Brisbane

Yesterday we went to Brisbane to get our temple recommends renewed. Normally we would just wait until the Mission President comes to Townsville, but we leave for the States on 15 February, and he is coming on 16 February! Thank goodness for frequent flyer miles!!
Our plane arrived in Brisbane at 1:30pm and we flew out at 7:30pm. Needless to say, it was a short trip. We had a few hours to spend downtown, so we walked around South Bank on the Brisbane River. We also went out to a Japanese restaurant for dinner (John wanted sushi). The food was so good! We haven't found a good Japanese restaurant in Townsville, so it was a nice treat.

On the flight to Brisbane.  (This is Alexis' tired look. You can see it in her eyes. And she has her hands folded over her chest. She always does this when she's ready for a nap. It's so cute!)

Overlooking the Brisbane River. You can tell how hot and humid it was by the nice sweaty sheen on all of our faces and my hair sticking to my face.

On the flight back to Townsville.

I thought it was so cute how she was holding on to her dress like a little lady.

Table for 1

This is Alexis' newest toy.  She can't quite sit up on her own yet, so this is the perfect solution.

She's started putting everything in her mouth, so when she's in her chair her only objective is to try and reach the toy and then chew on it.

Look at that concentration!
