Future Pianist?

I've been wanting to learn how to play the piano for a long time now. (I even took lessons for a few months during the summer after I graduated high school.) So for my birthday, I got a keyboard along with a course that will hopefully help me to learn the basics on my own. The keyboard came in the mail today and Alexis fell in love:

Maybe we have a future pianist on our hands?

She also had fun playing in the big box:

New songs

Yesterday, Alexis came home from church singing "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam."  She kept singing it and telling me that she learned it at church.  John and I were just dying because instead of saying "sunbeam," she says "sun-beep."  It is hilarious, and so cute at the same time:

Also, the other morning Alexis woke up singing this song:

It was so funny for John and I to lay in bed and listen to her sing this song over an over again to herself.  It is thanks to Mrs. Walker's preschool that she knows this song.

The most AMAZING swimmer ever!

Alexis is the most amazing swimmer ever.  Well, at least we think so.  We are so lucky to have a pool in our backyard while we are living with Tom and Susan.  And I have no doubt that Alexis is such a good swimmer because we take her swimming most days of the week.  We were able to get some videos of her swimming skills; just remember while you're watching the videos that she is only 2 years and 8 months old! (Can you tell that I am proud of her?)

Jumping in & swimming back to the wall:

Swimming the width of the pool unassisted (about 20 feet):

Hike City Creek Canyon

Alexis and I got John a hiking backpack child carrier for Father's Day.  He was very excited to try it out, so the very next morning, we drove up to the top of City Creek Canyon and went on a family hike.  Alexis loved being up in the backpack as we went "exploring."  John carried Alexis up the trail, and I had a turn carrying her down.  It was a fun morning.

Peanut Butter . . . Yummy, Yummy?

John HATES peanut butter. And yes, I mean hate with all capitals. He will leave the room if I get it out of the fridge. He's mad that I even buy it. He was horrified when my biggest craving during my pregnancy with Alexis was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (Prior to my pregnancy, we had never bought a jar of peanut butter, because I didn't really like it that much either.)  And yes, this is a picture of our daughter licking/devouring a big spoonful of straight-up peanut butter.

We were making peanut butter cookies and Alexis wanted a taste of the peanut butter.  So I gave her one, thinking that she wouldn't like it.  She doesn't like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  To my surprise and John's horror, she loved it!  She still won't eat a peanut butter sandwich, but she loves peanut butter straight out of the jar.
