So Precious

Alexis was having a hard time falling asleep for her nap today.  I had to go in to get her resettled at least five times.  Finally I told her that I had had enough and she needed to stay in bed and go to sleep.  I didn't hear anything after that.  A couple of hours later I went in to wake her up and this is what I found:

So precious.  I didn't hear her get out of bed again, but obviously she did.  And she made herself a little bed on the floor and got out her Book of Mormon to read.

Big Day

Today was a big day.  We started the day off by running through the water fountain at the Gateway shopping center.

After lunch, we took a trip to the Childrens' Hospital emergency room.  We usually let Alexis peel her own Cutie oranges.  This time, she stuck that little green bit up her nose.  We couldn't get it out.

Here she is watching Finding Nemo in the waiting room:

And here she is after they used a catheter to clear her nose:

She was very excited to get a popsicle and a stuffed animal.  The doctors and nurse were very impressed with Alexis because she didn't cry at all.  They wrapped her up like a mummy (so she couldn't move her arms), and then held her down on the bed while they stuck the catheter up her nose.  She looked scared, but she didn't cry.  I'm so proud of my brave girl.
That evening, we set up the sprinkler.  It was Alexis' first time running through a sprinkler.  After she got used to it, she loved it.

No more big days for a while, please.

Happy Easter!

Last night, Alexis dyed some Easter eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide.  She did a great job and then towards the end, I knocked over one of the cups.  So she finished up the job in just her panties.

This morning, Alexis was very excited to find her Easter basket full of goodies.

After church, we went on an Easter eggs hunt in the backyard.  Alexis loved it!

The Northwest

We decided to do the road trip thing again (remember our three-week road adventure last year in Western Australia).  This time, we drove to the Pacific Northwest, specifically Washington and Oregon, from Utah.  We headed to Bellevue first and decided to try driving at night.  We left Salt Lake around 10:00pm and drove through the night.  It was way harder than we thought it would be.  I was horrible and could not keep my eyes open, so John had to do most of the driving.  He did a great job.  But the recovery from not sleeping took days (not to mention Alexis didn't sleep very well either), so on the way back to Salt Lake from Portland we decided to drive during the day.  We left Portland around 5:00am.  It was much better than driving at night, and Alexis is such a good car traveler that it wasn't that big of a deal.  Here's just a few highlights from our trip:

Beautiful view driving over Snoqualmie Pass:
(This picture does not do it justice.)

Had a playdate at the park with Grandpa Chris:

Dyed Easter eggs for the first time (with Nana's help):

Alexis had her first Dairy Queen ice cream cone:

Helped Mrs. Walker teach preschool:

Alexis had her first (of many, I'm sure) Starbucks hot chocolate:

There were a lot of firsts in there!  Even though we survived driving, and it was nice to have our own car while we were visiting family, we definitely prefer flying!
