The Northwest

We decided to do the road trip thing again (remember our three-week road adventure last year in Western Australia).  This time, we drove to the Pacific Northwest, specifically Washington and Oregon, from Utah.  We headed to Bellevue first and decided to try driving at night.  We left Salt Lake around 10:00pm and drove through the night.  It was way harder than we thought it would be.  I was horrible and could not keep my eyes open, so John had to do most of the driving.  He did a great job.  But the recovery from not sleeping took days (not to mention Alexis didn't sleep very well either), so on the way back to Salt Lake from Portland we decided to drive during the day.  We left Portland around 5:00am.  It was much better than driving at night, and Alexis is such a good car traveler that it wasn't that big of a deal.  Here's just a few highlights from our trip:

Beautiful view driving over Snoqualmie Pass:
(This picture does not do it justice.)

Had a playdate at the park with Grandpa Chris:

Dyed Easter eggs for the first time (with Nana's help):

Alexis had her first Dairy Queen ice cream cone:

Helped Mrs. Walker teach preschool:

Alexis had her first (of many, I'm sure) Starbucks hot chocolate:

There were a lot of firsts in there!  Even though we survived driving, and it was nice to have our own car while we were visiting family, we definitely prefer flying!
